Gender Based Violence Due Diligence Tool

Pacific RISE has partnered with the Criterion Institute—a leading think tank in gender lens investing—to design a world-first gender-based violence due diligence tool to help investors assess how the incidence and consequences of gender-based violence pose a set of risks to an investment.

Pacific countries have some of the highest rates of gender-based violence in the world. There are some studies into the costs of violence, but little is known about how these economic and social impacts pose a risk to investments.

This tool addresses this by an analysing four existing due diligence categories of political, regulatory, operational and reputational risks.  The tool is specific to the Pacific region, but it builds upon due diligence processes that are standard worldwide. Leading impact investors and gender-based violence organisations provided feedback and guidance on the tool’s development.
